Job Description
MVP Sonic Group is a locally owned franchise organization of Sonic Drive-In restaurants, founded in 1984. The group currently owns and operates 40 locations across Mississippi and is focused on continued growth through new store openings. The Financial Controller role is a full-time, on-site position based in Ridgeland, MS. The Financial Controller oversees day-to-day accounting operations, including maintaining general ledgers, supervising accounts payable and accounts receivable, and ensuring timely month-end and year-end close processes. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing financial statements, managing financial reporting, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The Financial Controller will analyze financial performance, monitor budgets, support forecasting, and provide insight to leadership on business trends and opportunities. Additional responsibilities include developing internal controls, coordinating with external auditors, improving financial processes and systems, and collaborating with operations leadership to support decision-making across the 40 locations.
Qualifications:
- Strong Accounting and Finance skills, with the ability to manage general ledger activities and oversee daily accounting operations.
- Proficiency in preparing and interpreting Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes.
- Advanced Analytical Skills to assess performance, monitor budgets, and provide data-driven recommendations to leadership.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls in a multi-location or franchise environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional certification preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with operations teams and senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, maintain accuracy, and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.
